KARYUKAI was established by Natsuko Mineghishi, a Japanese female Karate-ka and a renowned Melbourne soprano. In January 2007. KARYUKAI is officially recognized by the Shotokan Karate-Do International Australia [SKIA] and the Shotokan Karate -Do International Federation [SKIF] in Japan. SKIA is also affiliated with the Australian Karate Federation [AKF].

The KA- and RYU- from KARYUKAI mean summer and dragon respectively. The first character of Natsuko's name also means summer, representing the energetic and bright spirit of the club. The dragon character represents the God of water, reflecting a wish for members to maintain fluidity and a constant striving for self-improvement.

Private Martial Arts lessons in Docklands: SELF DEFENSE, KARATE OR TAI CHI

Hi I'd like to offer the following Private Martial Arts lessons in Docklands: SELF DEFENSE, KARATE OR TAI CHI
3 programs are available:

1 SELF DEFENSE private lessons focusing on how to deal with difficult and dangerous situations (situational awareness, voice control, how to and where to strike, kicking, punching, how to escape from wrist grabs, bear hugs, knife defense etc). Full program is 5 x 1 hour sessions or you can do one off general sessions.
Suitable for all women, men or teenagers (12+)
Costs:
• 30 min or 1 hour sessions
• One off: $30 for 30 min or $55 for 1 hour
• Or entire course 5 lessons: $130 x 30 mins or $250 x 1 hour
• Ongoing training revision after 5 lessons: $27 for 30 min or $50 for 1 hour

2 KARATE private lessons focusing on technique, building confidence, self defense and skills development (suitable for absolute beginners or enhancing advanced students who could benefit from one on one technical focus). The style of Karate is Goju (hard / soft) made famous by Chojun Miyagi. Note l have a lot of experience in developing challenging kids (eg: boisterous, shy, bullied).
Suitable for kids (6+), teenagers, all men or women
Costs:
• 30 min or 1 hour sessions
• One off: $30 for 30 min or $55 for 1 hour
• Ongoing: $28 for 30 min or $50 for 1 hour

3 TAI CHI private lessons, this is a traditional Chinese pattern encompassing 102 moves with signature moves such as Grasp birds tail, single whip, brush knee, parting wild horses name etc. Tai Chi originated in China and is practiced by millions of people around the world. Improves strength, flexibility, aerobic conditioning and balance, very calming and meditative. Most Tai Chi instructors only show the pattern, in this syllabus the application (ie: why we are doing what we are doing is also demonstrated) so you also learn the self defense application (optional).
