Help 4 Kids is an Australian-based organisation helping you help others. Our goal is to support children in need by raising funds to purchase vital equipment, aids and support tools. We work closely with Queensland hospitals, local charities, and medical centres interstate to find out how we can best provide support to children in any way we can. Like other Australian charities, our community-focussed team is dedicated to finding new ways of improving the lives of sick children. Data from the ABS National Health Survey 2017-18 revealed the two leading chronic conditions linked to children aged 0-14 were asthma and hay fever or allergic rhinitis. Both conditions are common in children with a hypersensitivity to allergens and require treatment including inhalers, oxygen therapy, and in some cases intervention from a respiratory therapist. Mental health is also an ongoing concern for children with funding and treatment required. The survey found the third and fourth most common chronic conditions in children under 14 were anxiety-related problems and psychological development problems. Food allergies were found to be increasingly common with 5.5% of all children reporting some kind of allergy. There has been a dramatic increase in hospital admissions for anaphylaxis over recent years.
