We are a family owned, and run local nursery that has been situated on Sydney's Northern Beaches for over 30 years. We take pride in providing our customers with top quality plants. We stock a variety of indoor and outdoor plants including tropicals, succulents, palms, shrubs, exotic and so on. The story of the GreenWall Company started 40 years ago. Mark Paul, the founder, a trained Marine Biologist turned Horticulturist, migrated from swimming among the fisheries and working on coral reefs and estuaries, to the dry lands surrounding the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Our green walls and green roofs are known for their light weight, diversity, durability and low maintenance. One of the greenwalls is over 35 years old and is still thriving. What is a nursery?
A nursery, or 'nurseries' in plural, typically refers to a shop which sells gardening supplies. It is sometimes referred to as a plant nursery. It may also refer to a baby's room but this is not the context we are referring to here.
How did the word 'nursery' come to be used for garden centres?
A nursery is actually a good word to describe a centre which sells plants. Nursery is a word which means to 'nurse' or 'nuture'. A plant nursery is a place where plants are nurtured, propagated and grown to a desired age. Once the plants have grown to a desired size or age, they are sold to the general public or direct to businesses.
Are all nurseries the same?
