Confidentiality, non-judgement and active listening are key foundations for building positive therapeutic outcomes. It requires honesty and openness not only by the client, but also by the therapist. There should be mutual motivation to achieve and meet goals where the therapist cares about the client developing tools to manage their life.
As a practitioner of clinical counselling, my therapeutic approach places an emphasis on the mind-body relationship and is both experiential and pragmatic. I have worked in a number of areas including family separation/conflict, domestic violence, early childhood trauma and attachment, intellectual disability and autism and general counselling.
Connecting with a Counsellor with lived experience, provides an empathetic understanding of what challenges can arise and allows connection which is needed for progress. This is my tool for connecting with others.
