Memory Care provides the Ashby Memory Method (AMM) in the Sydney and Melbourne regions. The program is an in-home cognitive therapy to people living with a diagnosis of dementia. It'sa structured set of interactive thinking exercises and activities.

Providing care and therapy to people with dementia can be challenging. The therapy provided needs to fulfill several criteria: it needs to help the person with dementia and their carer to deal with the symptoms of dementia, it needs to be person centered and it needs to stimulate and enrich the participant's life.

The Ashby Memory Method (AMM) provided by Memory Care is an evidence based cognitive therapy, based on paper and pen exercises and activities. The program, tested in the USA, Cannada and by Alzheimer's Australia in Western Australia, has been proven to have an impact on the MMSE score of the participant, stabilizing them for 2 to 3 years. Taken from brain injury rehabilitation, it stimulates the part of the brain that is functioning to compensate for the part of the brain that is not. It helps with symptoms of dementia like depression, anxiety, social interaction, moods, and is a life enrichment program. This one on one program (or small group) is based on the participants' interests, past occupation, and hobbies. If the information is still there, the AMM program allows the memory connection to be made in a fun, socially engaging way.
