Why are my plants not looking good?

There are a few elements that the plants needs in your garden. Soil, position, nutrient and competition. We have all sorts of soil type that plants can adapt to. e.g. sandy, clay, organic and wet soil. Some plants have a preference in where they wish to be located in the garden e.g. sunny, shady, rocky, morning sun, afternoon sun, coastal, sheltered, etc. Nutrients are beneficials to a plant health and survival which involves organic liquid and granular fertiliser. Water helps nuture and break down the fuel for the plant to consume. Competition from plants and trees can restrict the survival of the plants life.

How much should landscape designer charge?

There is no universal price for a landscape design. Prices can vary depending from $1500-$5000 depending on what and how big the designs are? For a well qualified and sourced after landscape designer you would be paying a premium fee if they are registered with a well respected professional body association or institute such as Landscaping Victoria or Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. There is nothing wrong with checking their credentials, portfolio, testimonials and qualifications.

What is the difference between garden design and landscape design?

Garden design involves designing and reshaping the clients garden property. The designer will select suitable plants,shrubs and trees for the garden. There will be conceptual elements of materials and hard landscape suggested to suit the functionality of the client's lifestyle. As for landscape design the principles are the same however elements of the design will cover technical and construction details in more depth, e.g. retaining walls,pergola, paths, etc.
