Dando Drilling International Limited, based in the seaside town of Littlehampton, England, is a global supplier of robust and reliable drilling rigs and equipment for the mineral exploration, water well and geotechnical drilling sectors. Dando manufactures all of its rigs in England and has done since 1867 when the company was first founded by two local businessmen-one a tar paver and one a chandler sunk a tube well to bring fresh water to a population affected by cholera. In January 2011 Dando Drilling became part of the Canadian group Energold Drilling Corporation, a large drilling services company for the mineral exploration and energy sectors.
Dando's mineral exploration range consists of top-drive hydraulic multi-purpose drill rigs capable of conducting multiple techniques including reverse circulation (RC), rotary air blast (RAB) and deep wire line diamond core drilling. The highly robust and reliable machines can be truck or track mounted on a special rough terrain under-carriage and carry a large powerful on-board air compressor and a coring pump.The Dando exploration range consists of the Multitec 6000, Mintec 12.8 and Mintec 18 rigs- 6, 12.8 and 18 ton pullback capacity respectively.

The Dando Mintec 12.8 machine is particularly popular for coal exploration projects in Indonesia. The rig has been specially developed for very fast open hole air flush drilling with PCD bits and coring (wire line and conventional) in Indonesian type coal measures. With this method of drilling and using Dando drill rigs the customers are typically completing 300-400m boreholes in a 20 hour shift. Dando's strong history within the country first started with the supply of mineral exploration rigs to one of Indonesia's large mining companies in the early 1980s. Since then Dando have continued to supply equipment to this client and to other major players in the Indonesian mining industry. Dando has just completed two separate orders from Indonesia for a combined three Mintec 12.8s.

In addition to the Multitec and Mintec machines, Dando also manufacture a very small multi-purpose site investigation drilling rig, the Dando Terrier- the smallest hydraulic rotary drilling rig offered by Dando and possibly one of the smallest on the market. The compact maneuverable crawler-mounted design makes the rig ideally suited for quick and easy mine site transportation. Many Terriers have already been sold throughout Australia and New Zealand for geotechnical applications however the rig is becoming ever more popular for use in exploration projects. Very recently the Terrier has been conducting sampling on open pit Uranium mine sites in Namibia. During Dando's last client visit in April, the Terrier successfully took core samples from 21.9m deep- bordering on the mini multipurpose rig's maximum drilling capacity with the diameter and geology in mind.

The multipurpose Dando Mintec 12.8 is an extremely powerful mid-range mineral exploration drilling rig. It can be used with wireline drilling, RC drilling (reverse circulation drilling) and RAB drilling (rotary air blast drilling.)
