A Guide to Frankston
Colloquially known as Franga or Frankghanistan, Frankston is a breathtaking coastal city just a 20 minute drive out of the bustling metropolis of Melbourne, perched right on the fringes of the popular Port Phillip Bay. This dynamic urban harbour front city is an energetic mix of Australian culture, the arts, fine dining, pub culture and an abundance of attractions all set pristinely in front of the glorious natural back drop - more than 7 kilometres of stunning cashmere beachfront that meets the inviting sapphire sea. A true escape from a busy city life, the beach front suburb boasts a wealth of coastal bush land, beautiful botanical gardens, and lush natural habitats teeming with wild life, historical buildings, art galleries, theatres and some exciting water sport opportunities.
Known as the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula, Frankston is the destination you will more than likely pass through if you are on your way to some of the other popular Australian destinations such as Phillip or French Island, and is well worth the stop over. If you are travelling on the electric train line, this will be your last stop, so be sure to make alternative travel arrangements from here.
