Hobart is the capital of Tasmania with a population of around 205,000 people. Hobart has many well known attributes such as the towering Mount Wellington which looks over the city to the Tasman bridge which links the western and eastern shores.

On Saturdays Salamanca Place in Hobart is host to the Salamanca Markets which are well worth the wander. Many Tasmanian arts and crafts are available for purchase as is fresh produce.
Hobart features an airport with flights available to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Local state based Tasair flies to Burnie, Devonport and King Island. Flights also leave to service Casey Station in Antarctica. Car rental is available from the airport.
Hobart is home to the University of Tasmania main campus located in Sandy Bay, it provides courses in a range of disciplines to around 15,000 undergrad and postgrad students. Campuses of the University also operate in Burnie and Launceston.
