Locations
Located in the south of Tasmania is
Hobart, the largest city in the state with over 200,000 people in population. In the north the largest city is
Launceston with around 70,000 people. In the north-west of the state the two largest towns are
Devonport and
Burnie. Devonport is the location of the port for the Spirit of Tasmania ferry that travels to and from a port in Melbourne, Victoria.
Tasmanian economy
One of the larger industries in Tasmania is tourism with solid growth in recent years with dual ferries from mainland Australia and the arrival of discount airlines helping contribute to the success. Other traditional industries in Tasmania are agriculture, mining and forestry.
