Armidale is a beautiful town situated within the New England Region, half-way between Brisbane and Sydney. With a population of approximately 25,000 people, it is a growing city with its own University- the University of New England. It has the highest altitude of any other city in Australia, at 1000 metres above sea level. This city boasts a mall containing a large number of local cafes, which adds to the cultural atmosphere of the town. Armidale is an inland town, with the nearest beach being in Coffs Harbour, a two hour drive. Coffs Harbour can be reached by driving through the beautiful green farming towns of Dorrigo and Bellingen.
Armidale is surrounded by a number of smaller towns such as Uralla and Guyra, which are both approximately a 25 minute drive away in opposite directions from the town centre. Tamworth which is known for its 'Country Music Festivals' and is a one-and-a-half hour drive from Armidale.
